ID/OD Grind Machinist - Part Time Weekend Shift

Defense & Aerospace Machine Shop

Location: 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040

SHIFT: Part time - Saturday & Sunday 6am-3pm

REQUIRED: Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.

Relevant experience is required for this position. Please do not apply if you do not have Grind machinist experience.

ID / OD Grind

Operate grinding machines to produce parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications for aerospace applications. Manual and CNC grinders.

Machines used are Heald ID, Toyoda OD manual and CNC, Okamoto CNC ID & OD, and Kellenberger CNC.

Grind Machinist Duties / Responsibilities

  • Setup & operate to produce high precision aerospace components on ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Ability to setup and grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. onto surfaces
  • Complete all required paperwork properly – inspection reports, SPC, job travelers, etc.
  • Ability to hold tolerances of .0002” - .0005” while maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Able to work independently and stay on task – operate 2 machines regularly
  • Ability to problem solve and communicate process improvement suggestions with management

Grind Machinist Required Skills / Abilities

  • Familiarity with Toyoda, Okamoto, and Kellenberger Grinders, Heald a plus
  • Proficient with standard types of inspection equipment – Indicating Micrometers, Bore Gages, Sunnen Gage, & Test Indicators
  • Read and interpret of B/P’s including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), and any other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards and following directions
  • Experience in grinding holding tolerances of .0002” - .0005” preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, and willing to learn
  • General knowledge of standard shop practices and equipment

Grind Machinist Education / Experience

  • High School or GED
  • 2-5+ years ID/OD grinding experience required
