Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Greenlight Optics is seeking an experienced, talented Moldmaker to join our company. The primary responsibility of the selected candidate will be to build and maintain injection mold tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build new single and multi-cavity molds for injection molding plastic optics
  • Repair and maintain molds
  • Work closely with engineers to evaluate new mold designs for manufacturability, build and introduce new molds, and troubleshoot mold and molding issues
  • Ensure all work is undertaken to a high quality standard
  • Support new mold tooling from new molded optic launch through the life of the mold
  • Carry out engineering level changes to mold tooling
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a moldmaker/toolmaker required
  • Completion of moldmaker or toolmaker apprenticeship program preferred
  • Machining experience required (CNC experience preferred)
  • Experience measuring mold components using a variety of metrology tools and instruments
  • Understanding engineering drawings and injection mold designs
  • Understanding machining and molding processes
  • Organized. Able to plan and prioritize activities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Analytical skill set
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a safe manner
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work standards
  • Able to work with minimum supervision (self-motivated and self-directed)
