People in greenery jobs work to create, sustain, and improve both indoor and outdoor plant environments, often in public parks, gardens, nurseries, or private properties. These roles may also involve environmental stewardship and sustainable practices to promote biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.

To thrive as a Horticulturist, you need expertise in plant biology, soil science, and pest management, typically supported by a degree in horticulture or a related field. Familiarity with greenhouse management systems, irrigation technologies, and relevant certifications like a pesticide applicator's license are often required. Strong observation, problem-solving, and communication skills help professionals collaborate with teams and address plant health issues effectively. These competencies are crucial for ensuring healthy plant growth, sustainable practices, and successful landscape or crop management.
