Job description

Description:

As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for maintaining the equipment in the facility on the production floor, warehouse and the office area.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a high degree of electrical mechanical experience, knowledge and understanding.


This is a Monday - Friday Day Shift Position.

  • Repair / replace extrusion process line equipment as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Prioritize breakdowns based on the input from production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems in coordinated effort with production personnel.
  • Ensuring work orders are completed in a timely fashion and all parts used are accounted for.
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner or elevating to the Maintenance Manager level when the repairs will take longer than allotted time.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborates with production manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with production manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • High degree of electrical mechanical experience, knowledge and understanding.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Understands electrical diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring, with diagnostic capability.
  • Previous experience with PLC’s, VFD’s, and relay-based logic.
  • Multi discipline mechanical, electrical, HVAC skills and the ability to quickly learn new process/equipment.
  • Effective communication, observation, planning, writing, reading, basic math, problem solving and prioritizing skills.
  • Proficient computer skills to receive/close work orders, view/search different folders for manual, notes and/or documents.
  • Demonstrated good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a track record of improvements.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance environment with a track record of improvements.
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
