Position Overview

Great Basin Staffing is seeking Steel Metal Workers to support a high-visibility SpaceX project in Bastrop, TX. This role is hands-on and focused on structural steel fabrication, fit-up, installation, and assembly in an industrial/commercial construction environment. Youll work closely with site leadership to ensure work is safe, accurate, and compliant with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, cut, fit, and install structural steel components per prints and layout.

  • Perform field installation tasks including bolting, aligning, bracing, and anchoring steel members.

  • Assist with welding and steel assembly work as required by scope and qualifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and installation instructions.

  • Use appropriate tools and equipment (grinders, drills, mag drills where applicable, torches, rigging tools).

  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow jobsite sequencing and direction from foreman/superintendent.

  • Comply with all safety requirements including PPE, fall protection, lifting/rigging procedures, and site-specific rules.

Required Qualifications
  • Verifiable experience in steel fabrication and/or structural steel installation on industrial/commercial projects.

  • Able to read blueprints and follow layout/measurement requirements.

  • Familiarity with safe use of hand/power tools and jobsite equipment.

  • Strong teamwork, reliability, and safety-first mindset.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights (as required), and perform physically demanding work for full shifts.

  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Welding proficiency (MIG/Stick) with prior structural experience.

  • Rigging and signaling familiarity (working with cranes/telehandlers).

  • OSHA-10 (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience working on high-security/high-profile industrial sites.

Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Project-based assignment with full-time hours; overtime potential depending on workload and schedule.

  • Industrial/commercial construction environment with moderate-to-loud noise, temperature changes, and active lifting/rigging activities.

  • PPE required per site (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots/steel-toe; hi-vis as required).
