As a GRE tutor, your job is to help a student prepare for the graduate record examination (GRE). In this role, you may help with test prep for specific subjects, assist each student when they have trouble with specific elements of the test, and otherwise help them study and prepare. You can do GRE tutoring in person or online. Each student has unique needs and challenges, so flexibility when creating lessons and study plans is essential to your success in this field. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a GRE tutor requires meeting the qualifications and skills to pass the test, familiarity with all subjects the exam covers, and the flexibility to adjust your schedule to meet the needs of each student.
| Aspect | Gre Tutor | GRE Instructor |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically requires a strong GRE score, teaching experience, and sometimes certification | Often requires a GRE score, teaching certification, or tutoring credentials |
| Work Environment | One-on-one or small group tutoring, often private or online | Classroom settings, test prep centers, or online courses |
| Employer & Industry | Private tutors, online platforms, test prep companies | Test prep companies, educational institutions, online education providers |
Both Gre Tutors and GRE Instructors help students prepare for the GRE exam, but Gre Tutors typically work independently or online with personalized sessions, while GRE Instructors often teach in classroom or institutional settings. The roles overlap in credentials and industry usage, but differ mainly in work environment and employment context.
