A Graphic Design Relocation job refers to a position where a company hires a graphic designer and offers assistance in moving to a new location for work. This can include financial support, housing assistance, or visa sponsorship if applicable. These roles are common in global companies or creative agencies looking for specialized talent. Relocating for a graphic design job can provide opportunities to work with new clients, expand professional networks, and gain international experience.

What skills and qualifications are needed for graphic design relocation?

To excel in a Graphic Design Relocation role, candidates typically need strong graphic design skills, proficiency in design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), and a solid understanding of branding and visual communication, along with experience managing relocation-related projects. Familiarity with project management tools, cloud-based collaboration platforms, and, in some cases, certification in graphic design or visual communications can be valuable. Excellent organizational abilities, strong communication, and adaptability are essential soft skills for coordinating design deliverables across locations and supporting relocating employees or teams. These qualifications ensure timely, high-quality visual output while effectively navigating the challenges of supporting organizational moves or transitions.

What challenges do graphic designers face in relocation projects?

Graphic designers involved in relocation projects often face the challenge of adapting visual materials to new locations, cultures, or branding guidelines while ensuring seamless communication among remote teams. Balancing tight deadlines with the need for high-quality, location-specific design work can require effective time management and organization. Additionally, collaborating with relocation managers, HR professionals, and different departmental stakeholders is common, requiring strong interpersonal and project coordination skills. Successfully navigating these challenges helps ensure a smooth transition and consistent branding across all company sites.

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated part-time Communications Intern to support our growing Energy Practice during the academic year on a flexible, as-needed basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a student interested in energy, infrastructure, marketing, communications, and business development to gain hands-on experience supporting AECOM as we engage with some of North America's largest electric utility, power generation, transmission, and oil & gas clients.

Working directly with industry leaders, you will help create compelling marketing content, support thought leadership initiatives, develop client-facing qualifications materials, and contribute innovative ideas that help strengthen AECOM's presence across the energy sector.

We're looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, and initiative to every assignment and is eager to contribute wherever support is needed.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain client-facing qualifications packages, project descriptions, resumes, presentations, and other marketing collateral.
  • Assist in writing, editing, and publishing articles, blogs, case studies, and thought leadership content focused on energy generation, transmission, distribution, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Support AECOM's online presence through content creation and social media engagement, particularly LinkedIn.
  • Research industry trends, utility priorities, market developments, and emerging technologies to support business development activities.
  • Help prepare materials for client meetings, conferences, industry events, and speaking engagements.
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to translate complex engineering concepts into engaging and marketable content.
  • Develop creative ideas to increase AECOM's visibility and engagement with utility, power generation, and oil & gas clients through both digital and in-person channels.
  • Provide marketing, communications, and business development support across the Energy Practice as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing  a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, Public Relations, Engineering, Energy Studies, or a related field and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and plan to continue with the Master's Degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written, editing, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in energy, utilities, infrastructure, sustainability, or industrial markets.
  • Experience with LinkedIn, digital marketing, graphic design, video editing, or content creation is a plus.
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical professionals and learning new subject matter quickly.
Additional Information
