VDC/BIM Technician
Concrete Strategies Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as VDC/BIM technician. Join us to work with the state-of-the-art technology for the most creative concrete contractor in United States. You will become a strategic asset within an established and expanding business, and the key contributor to our project teams.
This is a critical role with the opportunity to become one of our industry experts.
Scope of Work
Work with the project teams to execute and manage a range of duties related to Virtual Design and Construction on assigned projects and serve as the resource for the entire organization. Execute VDC workflows through all the phases of project delivery, support pre-construction effort, as well as serve as a technology resource for our construction partners.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the effort during all project phases with emphasis on:
    • Actively collaborate with Pre-Con and Operations in analyzing existing or building new 3D models.
    • Prepares accurate concrete erection or casting drawings by studying client specifications and working with the project design team; develops 3D graphic representation of the physical, functional, and aesthetic requirements of all components of a project.
    • Prepares final models/drawings by studying sketches, specifications, and supporting documents; preparing drawings of the structural system; generating bills of materials; drawing multiple views; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials.
    • Creates fully parametric 3D models of building structures.
    • Interprets engineer's sketches and calculations.
    • Perform detailed take-offs and engage with CSI pre-construction team.
    • Collaborate on integration of digital delivery standards and capability within CSI and across Clayco enterprise.
    • Interprets architectural and structural construction documents
    • Coordinates and reviews shop drawings produced by outside consultant
  • Provide assistance to project teams during construction coordination activities.
  • Provide technical support for a range of application used in-house with specific focus on the following:
    • Revit for aspect of concrete work modeling, including sequencing, detailing and precise take-offs
    • Tekla Structures for all aspects of concrete work modeling and form-work engineering
    • Navisworks for project coordination and clash resolution
    • Autodesk ACC Build suite of products for collaboration, take-off and project progress tracking
  • Perform virtual building analysis on model working closely with schedulers, project managers, and superintendents.
  • Manage model changes through design updates and as built conditions.
    • Submittal, Issues and QA/QC process management

Qualifications
  • 1+ years' experience in AEC industry.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture.
  • Minimum 1+ years' experience with VDC/BIM related processes.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
  • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work is a plus
  • Experience with mid to large scale projects.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, interpret and compare detailed information.
  • Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Assertive and self-confident.
  • Comfortable writing and presenting verbally in a manner that is relevant to the audience.
  • Able to manage team's expectations pro-actively.
  • Ability to educate project team on software, and workflows utilized throughout the construction process.
  • Able to read and understand contract documents and drawings.
  • Previous experience in estimating and scheduling is preferable but not required.
  • Ability to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong willingness to learn and be a contributing team member.
  • Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding
  • Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs
  • Willingness to travel occasionally or relocate with a project.
