Job description

Senior Hardware Design & Test Engineer

Raytheon – Tewksbury, MA.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Design & Test Engineer to join our Receiver, Exciter, and Back‑End Processing (REBEP) Department. The role focuses on RF components, circuits, and Receiver Exciter subsystems in design and production environments.

What You Will Do
  • Support technical investigation and resolution of design, build, and test issues on Receiver Exciter subsystems, CCAs, and components.
  • Design, model, simulate, and verify RF/Microwave circuits and subsystems.
  • Integrate and test at component, CCA, and subsystem levels.
  • Transition designs to production and provide technical support to manufacturing and test engineers.
  • Support small projects or process improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in circuit card and subassembly design updates to resolve obsolescence and producibility issues.
  • This position is 100% on‑site in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA, with travel to Andover, MA and Woburn, MA.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Degree in STEM and minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, or an advanced degree and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with microwave/RF system, subsystem, or component analysis, design, and/or test.
  • Experience in failure analysis/RCCA investigations, preferably with supplier and factory issues.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance post‑start; U.S. citizenship required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience troubleshooting RF and Microwave components/subsystems such as up‑converters, down‑converters, power amplifiers, waveform generators, RF modulators, and limiters.
  • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
  • Technical writing and formal presentation experience.
  • Experience working in both engineering design and production environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Mentor Graphics Designer, PSPICE, System Vision, MATLAB, Mathcad, IDL, CST, Microwave Design Studio, HFSS, and ADS.
  • Technical background in cascade analysis and/or frequency planning, filter design and fabrication, circuit card assembly, high‑speed data converter test/characterization, and low‑noise RF source design and test.
