What does a graphic design photography intern do?

A Graphic Design Photography Intern assists with both graphic design and photography tasks within a company or creative team. Their responsibilities typically include supporting photo shoots, editing images, designing visual content such as social media graphics, and collaborating with other designers and photographers. Interns gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software like Adobe Creative Suite and learn how to translate creative ideas into compelling visuals. This role provides valuable exposure to both fields, helping interns build a versatile portfolio and professional skills.

What kind of projects can a graphic design photography intern expect to work on, and how much creative input will they typically have?

As a Graphic Design Photography Intern, you'll often support ongoing branding, marketing, or social media campaigns by creating visual assets, editing photos, and assisting with photo shoots. Interns are usually encouraged to contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions and may have opportunities to pitch creative concepts, especially in collaborative team environments. While final decisions are made by senior designers or art directors, your fresh perspective and initiative are valued, and you may get to own smaller projects or assist with client presentations as you gain experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a graphic design photography intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Graphic Design Photography Intern, you need a solid understanding of design principles, digital photography, and a portfolio demonstrating your creative abilities, often supported by coursework or relevant experience. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom) and basic camera equipment is typically expected. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to take feedback positively are vital soft skills for excelling in this collaborative and fast-paced environment. These skills ensure the intern can contribute effectively to visual projects, adapt to team needs, and deliver high-quality creative assets.

What is the difference between Graphic Design Photography Intern vs Graphic Design Photography Intern?

AspectGraphic Design Photography Intern
