Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Providence, RI team is looking for a talented Highway Design Intern to join us for the Summer of 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Responsibilities

  • Use and create geospatial transportation data.
  • Create text and spreadsheet documents and manipulate data.
  • Effectively interact with VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner.
  • Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with transportation planning and traffic engineering principles and resources.
  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing undergraduate or master’s degree in civil engineering, or related field

The hourly pay range for this position, located in Rhode Island, is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
