Founded in 1954, SOAR365 is an organization created by families, for families; an organization that has grown to provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.
With multiple locations throughout central Virginia, SOAR365 programs span the lifecycle and assist people with disabilities to live happy, successful and meaningful lives. Programs and services include Pediatric Therapy; Adult Day Support; SOAR365 Employment Services; Summer Camp, Respite Services and Business Solutions.
A Day in the Life of:
A small team with big projects and goals for 2025 and beyond, we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative graphic design intern to join our marketing and communications department and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals.
The SOAR365 Marketing & Communications department is responsible for a variety of initiatives, including print and digital communications that promote programs, services, events and fundraising efforts. The graphic design intern will also support our public relations outreach to local and regional media, social media and our targeted print and digital advertising to build awareness for SOAR365 programs and services.
This is a paid, hybrid position and reports directly to the Creative Manager, Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Collaborate with team on translating messaging concepts into marketing pieces that help the organization meet its strategic goals.
  • Create clear and engaging designs for print and web, including brochures, direct mail pieces, signage, web and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed.
  • Edit photographs and images, including color correction and digital imaging
  • File preparation for service providers
  • Aid the Lead Graphic Designer in completing design projects

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Portfolio demonstrating a clear understanding of hierarchy, layout, and typography
  • Willingness to work with a team, as well as independently, to develop design solutions
  • Eager to take on new challenges and learn new skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Constant Contact and/or project management software, a plus
  • Junior, senior, or recent graduate majoring in Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Desire to serve in a nonprofit working environment
