SUMMARY

The Sports Information Graduate Assistant supports the promotion, coverage, and documentation of Cornerstone University’s athletic programs. This role is designed for a graduate student seeking hands-on experience in sports communications, media relations, and athletic administration while pursuing an advanced degree. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of athletic communications, including game recaps, press releases, and feature stories
  • Maintain and update athletic website content, including rosters, schedules, statistics, and historical records
  • Provide live game coverage through statistics software, live streaming, and social media platforms
  • Manage and grow the athletic department’s social media presence with engaging, timely content
  • Coordinate media relations efforts, including credentialing and press box/game day operations
  • Compile and report statistics to conference and national governing bodies
  • Design graphics and multimedia content for digital and print use
  • Assist with the production of game programs, media guides, and other publications
  • Support photography and video efforts for games, events, and promotional purposes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director
  • All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.?

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Acceptance into a Cornerstone University graduate program
  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of athletic statistics and sports rules preferred
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation
  • Familiarity with programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and athletic statistical software is a plus
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and travel as required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

PREFERED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Experience with live stats software (e.g., Presto, StatCrew, NCAA LiveStats, or similar)
  • Basic photography, videography and production skills
  • Graphic design experience
  • Understanding of collegiate athletics and NAIA/NCAA guidelines
