UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATION - Senior Graphic Designer
Job Classification

Position summary
This position is responsible for developing high-quality print and digital marketing materials that support Enrollment, Advancement, academic departments, and University initiatives while maintaining the Andrews University brand. The ideal candidate is an exceptional visual communicator with strong design skills, a passion for storytelling, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications summary
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing print and digital design.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an in-person team environment.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing. Duties and responsibilities
  • Design print and digital marketing materials, including brochures, advertisements, postcards, social media graphics, email assets, presentations, signage, and web graphics.
  • Assist with the design, layout, and production of FOCUS Magazine and other university publications.
  • Create original illustrations, graphics, and branded visual assets.
  • Ensure all projects align with Andrews University's brand standards and visual identity.
  • Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to develop creative solutions that meet communication goals.
  • Provide excellent customer service while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Work closely with writers, photographers, videographers, and marketing team members on integrated campaigns.

Supervisory responsibilities
Supervise student workers and possible contract designers or a junior designer.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing print and digital design.
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Canva
  • Experience with publication design, branding, print production, and digital marketing assets.
  • Strong typography, layout, illustration, and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an in-person team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing magazines or editorial publications.
  • Higher education or nonprofit marketing experience.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications beyond the core design tools.
  • Understanding of accessibility and current design best practices.
