What are granite jobs?

Granite jobs refer to positions involved in the extraction, processing, installation, and maintenance of granite, a durable natural stone used in construction and design. These jobs can include roles such as quarry workers, stone fabricators, installers, polishers, and sales professionals specializing in granite products. Workers may be responsible for cutting, shaping, finishing, or installing granite slabs for countertops, flooring, monuments, or architectural features. The work often requires physical strength, attention to detail, and knowledge of tools and safety procedures. Granite jobs can be found in both commercial and residential construction industries.

What are the typical safety protocols followed by granite workers on the job site?

Granite workers adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize risks associated with heavy materials and equipment. Common procedures include wearing personal protective equipment such as safety goggles, steel-toed boots, and gloves, as well as using dust masks or respirators when cutting or polishing granite to prevent inhalation of silica dust. Additionally, workers are trained to safely operate lifting machinery and to follow proper lifting techniques to avoid injury. Regular safety meetings and adherence to OSHA guidelines help maintain a secure work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Granite Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Granite Installer, you need expertise in measuring, cutting, and installing granite surfaces, along with a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in construction or stonework. Familiarity with tools such as saws, polishers, and installation equipment, as well as safety certifications like OSHA, is typically required. Attention to detail, physical stamina, and strong customer service skills help set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure precise installations, minimize errors, and lead to high customer satisfaction and workplace safety.

What is the difference between Granite Job vs Mason?

The roles often overlap in skills and certifications, but their primary focus and project types differ.

Job description

Granite Installer | Full-Time | Salt Lake City, UT $30/hr to Start | Path to $35/hr Based on Performance

We're looking for a skilled Granite Installer to join our team. This isn't a generic labor job — it's a craft. You'll work with high-end stone including granite, marble, and quartz on residential and commercial projects, using modern laser templating and advanced seam-joining technology to deliver results homeowners brag about.

What You'll Do

  • Template & Measure — Use laser tools and digital templating software to take exact measurements down to 1/16", ensuring a perfect fit every time
  • Cut & Fabricate — Cut sink holes, cooktop cutouts, and faucet openings using diamond-blade wet saws and wet grinders, in-shop or on-site
  • Transport & Handle — Safely move 200–500+ lb slabs using vacuum suction cups, carry clamps, and A-frame dollies
  • Install & Level — Shim and set slabs with precision, ensuring perfectly level, secure surfaces
  • Seam & Finish — Join slabs with epoxy resin and vacuum seam setters for near-invisible joints; polish edges and apply professional-grade sealants and caulk

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of granite, marble, or quartz installation experience
  • Comfortable with angle grinders, wet saws, and pneumatic polishers
  • Strong math skills — reading blueprints and measuring to 1/16" is second nature
  • Physically capable of handling heavy stone throughout a full shift
  • Professional and personable — you'll be in customers' homes representing our company
  • Valid driver's license preferred

What We Offer

  • $30/hr starting pay with a clear path to $35/hr based on performance
  • Full-time, consistent hours
  • A crew that respects the craft and takes quality seriously
  • Real opportunity to grow with an established, reputable company

Apply now — we're hiring immediately.
