What does a granite installer do?
A granite installer handles the installation of granite in a house or place of business. Your responsibilities in this career could extend to the installation of other materials such as marble, quartz, or other natural rock or synthetic materials. Property owners often use granite in countertop and kitchen designs. In this job, your duties are to load material into your vehicle, drive to the work site, remove the existing countertop or kitchen accents if necessary, and then install the new granite. At some companies, your job could include preparing the granite for installation at the warehouse before loading it on your vehicle.

What is the difference between Granite Installer vs Stone Fabricator?
| Aspect | Granite Installer | Stone Fabricator |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically requires on-the-job training or apprenticeships, some certifications | Requires fabrication certifications, technical training in stone cutting |
| Work Environment | On-site installation at residential or commercial locations | Workshop or fabrication shop, cutting and shaping stone |
| Employer & Industry | Construction, remodeling, stone installation companies | Stone fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities |
While both roles work with stone materials, a Granite Installer focuses on installing finished countertops and surfaces on-site, whereas a Stone Fabricator specializes in cutting, shaping, and preparing stone slabs in a workshop. The installer applies the fabricated pieces, making their roles interconnected but distinct in the stone industry.
