Job description

Summary:  This role is a key member of the FP&A team responsible for providing insight into operational and financial business performance for company leadership through analysis of results verses budget, forecast and historical performance.  This individual will be a thought leader to continuously improve the finance function and its value to the organization. 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Develop and drive annual and quarterly planning and forecasting process including coordination and consolidation of company income statement. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with key stakeholders (business unit and enterprise leadership). 
  • Lead the development of actionable reports through collaboration with business units.  This includes the creation of reports for distribution in support of monthly variance reporting of actual results versus budget and research and resolution of business unit inquiries.  Using PeopleSoft/Hyperion, manage the inventory of reports and continually elevate quality and efficiency through the coordination of all “power” report users.  
  • Prepares and presents complex financial data for internal stakeholders as well as external regulatory agencies and other entities. This includes a variety of reports detailing the status of revenue, loss and expenses including unit and activity costs. Identities trends, highlights variances and recommend adjustments in programs and processes to management as they relate to financial targets. 
  • Recommends and takes ownership of new financial analysis techniques and measurements for internal reporting purposes. Leads the development of efficient analytical and planning models that capture key financial data. Prepares a variety of reports analyzing and detailing premiums, losses, and expenses. Performs in-depth financial analysis including reviews of the impact of variances from plan. Assesses the need to develop corrective action plans. 
  • Support finance business partners with data needed to monitor and analyze monthly budget variances. 
  • Proactively work to improve/translate data from accounting function to finance application. 
  • Lead initiative to continuously mature financial approach to answer questions to enable business decision-making. 
  • Design, maintain and continually improve forecast models for current and future years including user-based testing. 
  • Leverage competitive financial statement / annual report research for benchmarking financial performance metrics and indicators. 
  • Provide analysis to support the development of the company’s strategic plan. 
  • Perform ad hoc expense analysis to provide insights that will help shape expense management practices. 
  • May supervise/lead Analysts on special projects/studies. 

What You’ll Bring To The Company: 

Individual should have 8+ years’ experience in full-time financial or analytical position with strong knowledge of how finance and accounting interact in a corporate environment.  Preferably with an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.  Must be a self-starter with demonstrated problem solving skills, highly analytical critical thinker, intellectually curious, with decision-making skills.  Has enthusiasm for collaboration and building strong, trusting relationships with colleagues across all levels and areas of the company.  Illustrates strong management skills with ability to drive project from inception to delivery and be a catalyst for change.  Must have high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel and Power Point required).  Preferred: Hands-on experience with Hyperion planning application.
