Job description

Rehabilitation medicine with a dash of social consciousness
Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital, located on the near west side of Chicago, is one of the very few freestanding safety-net rehabilitation hospitals in the country. The patients that we serve are those who often are not able to access healthcare. Schwab also sponsors its own Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training program. The mission of this residency program is to "develop outstanding rehabilitation physicians with social awareness who embrace and embody diversity and practice with a social conscience." Applicants to the residency training program self-select those who are community and patient-focused, who believe in social justice and advocacy. Our program is a blend of MDs and DO's,
Our attendings are all employed physicians, with a guaranteed salary, competitive benefits and a bonus structure that values the productivity of the team.
Schwab is seeking 1 full-time, board-certified/board-eligible Physiatrist:
1. Consultation at a Level 1 Trauma Center as well as external referral reviews. This position focuses on optimizing access to AIR care, particularly for vulnerable populations. We look for ways to transition patients into rehabilitation, understanding that individuals with Illinois Medicaid will not get the same level of therapy in a skilled facility that they will in the AIR setting.

b. The opportunity for a variety of outpatient clinics is available.
c. Committee participation
d. On-call responsibilities are shared among all physicians equally, which at this time is once every 10 to 11 weeks .
