How much do graffiti cleaner jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for graffiti cleaner in the United States is $14.80, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.46 and $15.87 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs will no longer exist in 2030?

Graffiti cleaning jobs are expected to decline as automation and advanced cleaning technologies, such as robotic cleaners and environmentally friendly solutions, become more prevalent. However, manual cleaning roles may still exist in specialized or high-visibility areas where human oversight is required. Overall, some traditional cleaning jobs could decrease, but new roles may emerge with technological advancements.

Who pays to clean up graffiti?

In most cases, local government agencies or property owners are responsible for paying to clean up graffiti. Graffiti cleaning jobs often involve using specialized tools and safety equipment, and workers may be employed by municipal maintenance departments or private cleaning companies contracted for the work.

How much do people charge to remove graffiti?

Graffiti cleaners typically charge between $50 and $150 per hour, depending on the size and complexity of the job, the surface material, and accessibility. Some may offer flat rates for small projects or bulk discounts for larger jobs, and experience with specialized cleaning tools can influence pricing.

What are graffiti cleaners and what do they do?

Graffiti cleaners are professionals who specialize in removing unwanted graffiti from public and private properties. They use a variety of techniques, such as pressure washing, chemical solvents, and sandblasting, to effectively clean surfaces like walls, fences, and public buildings. Their goal is to restore the appearance of vandalized areas while minimizing damage to the underlying surfaces. Graffiti cleaners often work for cleaning companies, local governments, or property maintenance services. They may also provide advice on graffiti prevention and protective coatings.

What are some common challenges faced by graffiti cleaners, and how are they typically addressed?

Graffiti cleaners often encounter challenges such as removing stubborn or layered paint from sensitive surfaces, working in hard-to-reach locations, and handling hazardous materials. These challenges are addressed by using specialized solvents, pressure washers, and protective equipment, as well as receiving training in surface assessment and safety protocols. Collaboration with property owners and local authorities is also common to ensure timely and effective removal while preserving the integrity of the underlying surface.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Graffiti Cleaner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Graffiti Cleaner, you need knowledge of cleaning techniques, familiarity with various surfaces, and sometimes a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience with pressure washers, chemical solvents, and safety gear is important, as well as following local regulations. Attention to detail, reliability, and good time management are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills ensure graffiti is removed efficiently and safely, preserving property appearance and community standards.

In the cleaning industry, specialized roles such as industrial or hazardous materials cleaners tend to have higher pay due to the skills and safety requirements involved. Additionally, supervisory or management positions in commercial cleaning companies often offer higher salaries than entry-level cleaning jobs.
