Company Description NYC Periodontics and Implant Dentistry is a specialized dental practice focused on periodontal care, oral surgery, and advanced implant treatments in New York, NY. Role Description The Surgical Dental Assistant will support periodontal and implant procedures and ensure efficient daily operations in a specialty dental practice. This full-time, on-site role in New York, NY includes preparing treatment rooms, organizing surgical instruments, and assisting the periodontist chairside during non-surgical, oral surgery and implant procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining strict infection control protocols, sterilizing equipment, utilizing cone beam CT, taking digital images (3 shape), categorizing photos and documenting treatments accurately in patient records. The role involves supporting patient care before, during, and after procedures, including reviewing post-operative instructions, monitoring patient comfort, and addressing basic questions. The Surgical Dental Assistant will also help with inventory management, ordering supplies, and collaborating with front desk staff to coordinate schedules and procedure flow.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge in Dentistry and Dental Care, with experience in a clinical or surgical dental setting.
  • Hands-on skills in oral surgery and implant-related procedures, including chairside assisting and surgical setup.
  • Strong understanding of Infection Control standards, sterilization protocols, and OSHA/CDC guidelines.
  • Commitment to high-quality Patient Care, including compassionate communication, professionalism, and maintaining patient comfort and safety.
  • Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience; current dental assistant certification or licensure as required by New York state regulations.
  • Familiarity with dental radiography and basic dental software are preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in an established Periodontal practice.
  • Willingness to learn new specialty procedures, follow clinical protocols, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary dental team.
