Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide recent College graduates and career-oriented candidates comprehensive and intensive transportation training critical to their career growth and development within Epes Logistics Services, Inc.

This is a pass/fail program, any candidates who do not perform well are released from the program.

Successful completion of the program does not guarantee promotion to management. Placement occurs where needed and successful Career Path candidates are encouraged to apply for future potential positions as they arise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

“Hands-on” training with various departments in order to understand core competencies of inter-departmental relationships and overall strategic plan and provide a strong foundation for current operations as well as potential future management needs.

Developing and enhancing communication skills as a result of interaction with cross-sectional workforce and various levels of management.

Development of leadership skills through training in the area of operations, seminars, etc...

Development of administrative skills through evaluation process, expense reports and scheduling process.

Travel to ELS offices in Laredo (TX), Atlanta (GA), and Charlotte (NC) for cross functional shadowing and training opportunities. Provide follow up and assessments for each location.

Completion and submission of various evaluation forms to the Training Specialist.

Weekly completion and submission of expense reports to the Training Specialist.

Attend weekly meetings with the Training Specialist to review previous training learned and/or concerns.

Performs other duties as may become necessary or assigned.

  • Recent graduate from a college with a major in Business, Industrial Distribution and Logistics, Marketing, Communications, Operations, Transportation, or related field.
  • Good working knowledge of computer/PC software (WORD, EXCEL).

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Excellent work history (if applicable) with proven track record.
  • Professional, clean, neat appearance
  • No conviction of felonies, serious crimes or have charges pending. However, a conviction is not an automatic disqualification of employment.
