Job description

Degree/Education:
  • Degree/Education: Be a graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Be accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory.
  • Experience: Have at least 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months. Preference given to applicants with at least 12 months of Urology specific experience.
  • Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support identified in paragraph 1.5.45.6.): Basic Life Support CPR/BLS (Course C) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications must be through America Heart Association or client guidelines. Members must present proof of current certification(s) through client.
  • Board Certification: Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required .
  • Licensure: Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory. Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant as required in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

HCW Duties: The duties for the HCW are as follows but not limited to:
  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
  • Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in inservice training to staff members.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.
  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.
  • Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
  • ttend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.

Work Schedule : 0730-1630, Monday through Friday with a 60 minute uncompromised lunch, excluding Federal holidays and Client family days. Surgery days 0700 - 1600 if assisting in surgery. Schedule may be flexible to accommodate needs of patients and in support of the clinic provider. Hours per week will not exceed 40 hours. For example: If a workday requires the provider to stay past 1630 but the following day permits an earlier release, upon approval of the government supervisor, this may take place to balance the total hours worked so as not to exceed the 40 hour work week and meet the needs of the clinic. Any changes in the schedule shall be coordinated between the Contract Worker nd the Government. Any planned absences of the Contract Worker shall be communicated to the Government supervisor in advance of the absence in order to ensure that clinical operations are not adversely affected. The Government reserves the right to change shift hours with a five day notice to accommodate patient care needs and mission requirements. Time of request a month in advance.
Duty Hours : Clinic Days 0730-1630, Monday through Friday or Surgery Days 0700 - 1600 Monday through Friday if assisting.
Overage Hours : overage hours due to patient complication that require additional time. 33 overage hours
