Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant (GA) in Career Services supports the mission of the Office of Career Services by assisting with career education, employer engagement, and student-facing programs that promote student achievement and post-graduate readiness. This position provides hands-on professional experience for a graduate student interested in higher education, career development, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and delivery of career programs, workshops, and events (e.g., career fairs, employer panels, classroom presentations).
- Provide front-line support for students seeking career-related information, including résumé resources, internship and job search tools, and career platforms.
- Support employer engagement efforts, including communication, event logistics, and data tracking.
- Assist with creation and management of marketing and communication materials (email campaigns, flyers, social media content, website updates).
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to student engagement, employer participation, and program outcomes.
- Collaborate with campus partners, faculty, and staff to support career development initiatives.
- Provide backup support to the Academic Advising team by assisting with student walk-ins as needed.
- Perform additional administrative and special project responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment in a graduate degree program in higher education, student affairs, counseling, business, communications, or related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in career services, higher education, employer relations, or event planning.
- Familiarity with career management platforms (e.g., Handshake or similar systems).
- Experience with social media, design tools, or data reporting.
