Job Summary
The University of Utah Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is looking for seven Doctoral of Physical Therapy students in the first or second year for a 2-year appointment to assist with Catherine Ortega, Eric Belair and admissions of potential DPT students. Students will meet with the matched protégé/ mentee for a minimum of 4 contact hours per month (this may include time spent at monthly group meetings or phone conversations). Of the 4 contact hours, 1 must be a video call OR in person meeting. It is expected that the student have a 1) sincere interest in the mentoring program, 2) commitment to the academic success of the matched protégé, 3) commitment to the mentor/mentee relationship.
Students may be asked to assist with recruitment activities that may be online, on campus and off-campus at times. Though the St. George pathway director is the direct supervisor, students will collaborate with the Graduate Student Coordinator to understand priorities of the program/pathway.
Responsibilities
• Adherence to University of Utah policies.
• Completion of mentor training session and monthly documentation of protégé communication.
• Punctual attendance for meetings with the protégé and timely communication regarding cancellation if needed. Communication with the Student Graduate Advisor for possible changes in status, e.g., employment, contact information.
• Attend any activities as arranged by the pathway mentoring program-one per semester, e.g., social lunch/dinner session
• Evaluate the mentoring program at the end of each semester.
• Be an active participant
• Communicate regularly with the Pathway Director.
• Keep lines of communication open. Once matched, talk early and often to the mentee.
• Contribute student perspective regarding progression through academics in preparation for a health career and experiences within the DPT program.

Preferences
Must be accepted to or enrolled in the Doctoral of Physical Therapy program - St George Pathway.
Good spoken and written communication skills.
