In addition to these visitor-facing responsibilities, Senior Student Assistant Specialists provide operational and peer leadership within the Welcome Center. They may also help develop student-focused content for Welcome Center social media, online admitted student communities, and the New School Parent and Family Hub.
This position is ideal for a graduate student who enjoys working with people, demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, and is comfortable balancing public-facing responsibilities with administrative and operational work.
Senior Student Assistant Specialists are responsible for:

  • Leading engaging in-person campus tours and supporting virtual and on-campus admission programs and events.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of The New School's academic programs, student services and resources, campus facilities, and admission processes and requirements.
  • Assisting with the scheduling and coordination of student tour guides, private group visits, and other Welcome Center activities.
  • Supporting student staff onboarding, peer training, and ongoing professional development.
  • Providing on-site operational and administrative leadership during select weekday and Saturday visit programs.
  • Assisting with visitor communications and maintaining accurate campus visit and participation data.

  • Supporting special projects and other Admission and Welcome Center initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled New School graduate student.
  • Previous administrative or office experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Interest in mentoring and supporting fellow student employees.
  • Familiarity with The New School's academic programs, resources, and student experience preferred.

Pay Rate: $21/hour
Work Mode: Hybrid/Split: Employees hired for this position have a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (e.g., 1-4 times per week) and also work some of the time remotely.
