Job description
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center (CC) has made a strategic decision to expand its strengths in cancer control research, including in behavioral interventions, patient reported outcomes, biobehavioral oncology, survivorship, molecular epidemiology, genetics and genomics, and health care delivery. In partnership with clinical science departments, the MCW CC now invites applications from qualified investigators in these scientific areas, at the Associate or Professor level, for a leadership position as Cancer Control Research Program Co-Leader.
The Co-leader will provide scientific leadership for the program including strategic planning, programmatic oversight, mentoring faculty, shaping recruitment and collaboration priorities, and advancing interdisciplinary research across the cancer continuum. This position presents a unique opportunity to shape cancer control research in a region with substantial need and exceptional potential for impact.
Position Highlights:
- Senior leadership role as Cancer Control Research Program Co-Leader at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center
- Opportunity to shape and expand cancer control research across areas such as survivorship, health equity, genomics, and healthcare delivery
- Lead strategic planning, program oversight, faculty mentoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Play a key role in recruitment, partnership development, and advancing research across the cancer continuum
- Contribute directly to Cancer Center growth and pursuit of NCI designation
- Work within a large, collaborative network of 250+ researchers and major healthcare and research partners
- Address critical cancer disparities across diverse urban, rural, and underserved populations in eastern Wisconsin
Department/Division Highlights:
MCW (mcw.edu) is the only academic medical center in eastern Wisconsin, a diverse region of 29 counties which include urban, African American, Latinx, Tribal and rural communities. Some of these communities are challenged by significant health disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes. Cancer is the top strategic priority at MCW. The Cancer Center is comprised of more than 250 cancer research scientists and physicians at MCW, Froedtert ThedaCare Health Network, Children's Wisconsin, Clement Zablocki VA Medical Cancer Center, Genome Sciences Precision Medicine Center, the Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), and has an ambitious plan for growth, including achieving NCI-designation. The Cancer Control Research program plays a central role in this effort, spanning cancer prevention, survivorship, health equity, health care delivery and patient-centered outcomes research. As one of the largest US metro areas without a designated cancer center, NCI designation would have a significant impact on the health and quality of life of the people of Southeastern Wisconsin and beyond. The Cancer Control Research program will contribute directly to Cancer Center strategic initiatives related to NCI designation, including program development, growth of the extramural funding portfolio, and integration across population, clinical and basic science efforts.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD or MD degree and have a demonstrated history of securing and maintaining extramural funding, including current support in their area of expertise. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits, generous research startup and program development package, and an endowed chair commensurate with the candidate's vision and accomplishments. The institution is committed to fostering a merit-based inclusive environment that values diversity in backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Interested applicants can apply by uploading their their curriculum vitate and a cover letter. The posting will remain open until filled. #LI-NK1
