Job Title: Graduate Civil Engineer

Job Location: 11501 Burnet Rd BLDG 906 STE 200, Austin, TX 78758
Primary Function:
As a member of a project team, the Graduate Civil Engineer will perform engineering and design duties for transmission line or substation design, which require application of engineering principles. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to further develop an employee's job knowledge and abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Work with a project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents and drawings for a project, under direct supervision.
  • Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis, with minimal supervision.
  • Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI.
  • Learn and properly use the document management system.
  • Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
  • Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
  • Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
  • Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required, a structural background preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of hire is required. Prior internship and/or related work experience in structural design is preferred.
Possess skills in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of steel and concrete design.
  • Basic knowledge of structural analysis.
  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
  • Working in a team environment.
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires minimal physical effort.
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
