General Surgery Residency Program Director

Prisma Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in South Carolina, is seeking an accomplished, board-certified General Surgeon to serve as Program Director for our established General Surgery Residency Program in Greenville, South Carolina.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and motivated surgical educator and leader to guide the continued growth and excellence of a well-established residency program. The Program Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of surgeons while advancing the program's educational mission, academic success, and national reputation.

As Program Director, you will be responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and overall administration of the General Surgery Residency Program. This physician leader will ensure compliance with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards while fostering an inclusive, engaging, and high-quality educational environment that supports residents pursuing a variety of career pathways, including fellowship training, academic surgery, and community practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic vision and leadership for the residency program
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with ACGME and institutional requirements
  • Overseeing curriculum development, resident education, evaluation, and mentorship

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
