Job description

This req is for current Construction Management students looking for full time work December 2025-2026.

SUMMARY

Project Engineer I is an early-career role focused on supporting project execution through documentation, coordination, and quality assurance. Working under the guidance of senior project team members, this role assists with schedule updates, submittal tracking, material verification, and field purchasing. Project Engineer I is designed to build foundational knowledge of construction workflows, contract documents, and project controls while contributing to the successful delivery of assigned scopes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with monthly CPM schedule updates and narratives.

Review and process submittals to support schedule alignment and contract compliance.

Maintain accurate and current submittal logs, including approvals and re-submittals.

Expedite material deliveries in coordination with subcontractors and vendors.

Confirm material inspections for quantity, quality, and conformance with approved submittals.

Participate in the RFI process and ensure drawing sets are current and properly posted.

Participate in subcontractor preconstruction meetings.

Engage in safety planning and actively participate in the SOS Program.

Support the S&P Quality Control Program.

Assist with cost control by managing specific budgets as assigned.

Accumulate data for monthly owner and subcontractor pay applications.

Support field-initiated purchasing and production analysis studies.

Assist with project closeout activities in accordance with contract documents and company policy.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

This role requires regular physical activity, including walking, standing for extended periods of time, and working in various outdoor conditions as part of daily field operations. Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather, if needed. This may include climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Occasional office work will be required.

Occasional heavy lifting (50 lbs./22.7 + kg) can be expected, though exertion of up to 10lbs of force is more common.

Strong manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g. computers, mobile devices, copiers, etc.).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. or B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience

Previous construction experience and/or applicable internships preferred
