Graduate Pharmacy Interns are individuals who have completed their pharmacy degree but are not yet licensed pharmacists. They work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists to gain practical experience in various pharmacy settings, such as hospitals, retail pharmacies, or clinics. Their responsibilities often include dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, and assisting with medication management. This internship is typically a required step before taking the licensure exam and becoming a fully licensed pharmacist.

What responsibilities can a graduate pharmacy intern expect during their internship?

As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you can expect to be involved in a broad range of tasks including dispensing medications under supervision, providing patient counseling, assisting with medication reconciliation, and supporting pharmacists in daily operations. These responsibilities help you build practical skills and prepare you for full licensure, while working closely with pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals in a collaborative environment.

To thrive as a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you need a solid grounding in pharmaceutical sciences, attention to detail, and completion of a pharmacy degree program. Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, compounding equipment, and medication dispensing technologies is typically required.
