Job description

The P/T Supervising Psychologist directs the daily operations and clinical integrity of the psychoeducational assessment center. This role is responsible for overseeing assessment center personnel, providing clinical supervision for staff and trainees, managing center logistics, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychological and educational evaluations.


  • Provide overall clinical leadership and operational oversight of the Psychoeducational Assessment Center.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate assistants, doctoral trainees, practicum students, and other assessment personnel.
  • Review assessment referrals and determine appropriateness of services.
  • Assign assessment cases to trainees and monitor caseload distribution.
  • Provide individual and group supervision related to assessment administration, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and feedback.
  • Review and approve psychological assessment reports prior to release.
  • Ensure evaluations adhere to current professional, ethical, and legal standards, including APA Ethics Code, HIPAA, FERPA (when applicable), and state licensing regulations.
  • Conduct or assist with comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations when clinically indicated.
  • Oversee intake procedures, scheduling workflows, and client communication to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain assessment protocols, policies, procedures, and quality assurance measures.
  • Ensure standardized administration and secure handling of psychological testing materials.
  • Collaborate with faculty, referring providers, schools, healthcare professionals, and community agencies as appropriate.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training experiences for PsyD students.
  • Monitor trainee performance and provide timely feedback and evaluations.
  • Assist with selection, maintenance, and updating of psychological assessment instruments and testing materials.
  • Address client concerns and resolve clinical or operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, strategic planning, accreditation activities, and program development initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and maintain assessment center metrics related to utilization, quality improvement, and client outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Education/Experience
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience providing psychoeducational and psychological assessments.
  • Experience supervising graduate students, practicum students, interns, or other trainees.
  • Demonstrated excellence in psychological report writing and clinical documentation.
  • Five or more years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred. 
  • Experience working in university-based training clinics or academic settings is preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric, adolescent, and young adult populations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental or psychological conditions commonly evaluated in psychoeducational settings is preferred.
  • Experience supporting APA accreditation standards and graduate psychology training is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of psychoeducational and psychological assessment across the lifespan.
  • Expertise in administration, scoring, interpretation, and integration of cognitive, academic, behavioral, personality, and neuropsychological assessment measures.
  • Strong clinical supervision and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written communication, particularly psychological report writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultation skills with clients, families, trainees, faculty, and community professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining clinical quality and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of ethical, legal, and professional standards governing psychological practice.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling/database systems.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, cultural competence, and inclusive clinical practice.

  • Current unrestricted psychologist license in New York State.
