JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Set up ITM RTG – Trainee; Set-up ITM RTG - Standard Product

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY:  Associate

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO:  Grind Blades Supervisor

JOB TITLES REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:  None

ROLE:  Set-up assistant:  To learn how to set-up the ITM RTG Finish grinders.

Set-up:  To set-up the ITM RTG Finish grinders and teach assistant’s how to set them up.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Operate Finish Grind Multi Station 5-axis grinders on standard production items, such as T-A series
  • Perform complete inspections using an optical comparator, contracer, and camera
  • Create part programs on PC stations utilizing blueprints and data files
  • Perform on-line/off-line wheel truing on all standard wheel sets
  • Troubleshoot quality-related issues on the grinders
  • Run production
  • Manually maneuver machine and loader for setups and error recovery.
  • Build and maintain wheel packs and all tooling.
  • Work with automated systems to process daily production
  • Setup/changeover machine tooling and autoloader tooling for different series TA product
  • Perform machine calibration as needed with ME assistance
  • The willingness to follow, and provide, instructions and procedures in a cooperative manner
  • Low absenteeism/tardiness, as determined by management
  • Must be able to access all on-line work instructions.
  • Observe and report all areas that need addressed.
  • Work with ME to improve RTG cell processes
  • Maintain a high quality level as well as a high rate of efficiency.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Process orders into cell and then to next operation per work instructions.
  • Correct reporting of job transactions.
  • Fill out NCR for blades that do not meet our quality standards
  • Follow inspection plan
  • Proper use and care of micrometers and calipers.
  • Read and understand blueprints.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent
  • Associate Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Completed or enrolled in Apprenticeship Program, preferred.

Experience

  • Three years of CNC Set-up experience preferred.
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, and dial indicator gauges
  • Must have completed 90-day probationary period. preferred
  • Must stay in this position 18-24 months to justify AMEC investment in training.

Skills

  • Ability to negotiate CNC controls recover from machine errors.
  • Detail oriented, good planning and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to understand prints and set up standard TA Geometries
  • Basic math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • Basic knowledge of word and excel
