To thrive as a Graduate Journalist, you need excellent writing, research, and interviewing skills, typically acquired through a journalism or communications degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and digital editing tools such as Adobe Premiere or Photoshop is often expected. You'll often have opportunities to shadow senior journalists, participate in team meetings, and get regular feedback on your work. This supportive environment helps you quickly build confidence, develop your reporting skills, and contribute meaningfully to the team.

Responsibilities often include researching stories, conducting interviews, writing articles, and assisting senior journalists with content production. This role is designed to develop reporting, editing, and multimedia skills while learning about newsroom operations. Graduate Journalists may work for newspapers, magazines, online publications, or broadcast media. It is a stepping stone to more senior journalism roles.
