Job description

Clinical Internship

Alaska Behavioral Health Anchorage and Mat-Su

This posting is specific to our Anchorage and Mat-Su internship opportunities. Candidates interested in Fairbanks positions are encouraged to apply to the appropriate listing.

Our mission is to strengthen Alaska communities and improve the lives of our clients by delivering exceptional behavioral healthcare services.

We believe all Alaskans, with all mental health and addiction needs should have access to the best possible care. We are committed to helping Alaskan's recover.

About the Team

Alaska Behavioral Health (AKBH) is Alaska's largest outpatient behavioral health provider and a center for excellence in both the delivery of evidence-based treatment and training. We are a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and a National Child Traumatic Stress Network site.

We serve children and adults who experience a wide range of mental health issues, including children who experience severe emotional disturbance and adults with severe mental illness, with or without co-occurring substance use.

What You'll Do

AKBH provides practicum placement and supervised clinical training internships for both graduate and undergraduate students. Our structured graduate level internship program is designed for students training to become master's or doctoral level behavioral health clinicians. We prioritize Bachelor of Social Work students for our undergraduate internships.

Interns receive individual supervision, training, and experience in providing services. We provide a Core Competencies Learning Community for undergraduate and graduate interns, which provides students the opportunity to meet weekly with senior clinical and medical staff to learn the core competencies of clinical behavioral health services. Clinical interns are paired with an AKBH clinical field instructor who will act as their mentor during their internship. Graduate level interns will gain experience in more than one clinic or with more than one speciality population to ensure a well-rounded experience.

What We Need from You

Individuals interested in an internship must complete the Internship Application and include a resume. The Application form provides an opportunity to identify the population and/or programs of interest.

Alaska Behavioral Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
