Description
JOB OVERVIEW:
Receives and processes all payment methods for vehicle parking charges, courteously and efficiently, in accordance with hotel standards. Accurately files and distributes vehicle keys. Settles all guest checks in the computer system and maintains accountability for all financial transactions.
REPORTS TO: Guest Services Manager and Guest Services Supervisor.
SUPERVISES: N/A.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Valet Cashier station and hotel entrance.
Job involves working:

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Staff on Front Drive, Front Desk, Bell stand, Concierge, Accounting, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, Restaurant Management/Host(ess).
External: Hotel guests/visitors, outside transportation companies, emergency services personnel, limousine/taxi personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental, divisional and hotel policies, procedures and standards.
  2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  3. Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  5. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  6. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  7. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  8. Maintain complete knowledge of all parking rates, scheduled daily activities, parking facilities, layout, hours of operation and procedures.
  9. Be familiar with arrivals and departures, daily house count, expected business, group activities and special/discount group parking rates.
  10. Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Keep bank secure at all times.
  11. Maintain key system based on ticket numbers to provide vehicle key storage for guests and visitors.
  12. Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; maintain cleanliness at all times. Report shortages to Front Drive Captain, Guest Services Supervisor or Manager.
  13. Answer outlet telephone within 3 rings using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
  14. Acknowledge all guests arriving/departing the cashier station.
  15. Relay accurate directions on inquiries regarding destinations within the local area.
  16. Receive vehicle claim tickets from guests and calculate charges; relay charges to guest. Follow departmental procedures for guests retrieving a vehicle without a vehicle claim ticket.
  17. Document phone requests for retrieving vehicles; record time of completion.
  18. Issue front to Parking Attendant to retrieve vehicle.
  19. Access all functions of the computer system.
  20. Process all payment methods.
  21. Accommodate guest requests for change.
  22. Complete designated closing reports in the computer system.
  23. Fill out daily manual inventory of valet usage and COMP passes and drop in Guest Services office.
  24. Audit vehicle keys on a daily basis.
  25. Count and secure bank.
  26. Complete and distribute designated cashier reports.
  27. Balance and drop receipts.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  2. Prior training in guest relations.
  3. Prior experience in a similar position in the Hospitality Industry.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Essential:
  1. Exert physical effort in transporting up to 25 pounds
  2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  3. Reach 2 feet.
  4. Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  5. Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion.
  6. Ability to operate an on-line computer.
  7. Ability to hear guest and associate voices through the Valet booth window.
