Graduate Engineer - CMT & Geotechnical - Waukesha, WI

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

Graduate Engineer - CMT & Geotechnical is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

 What you'll do:

  • Performing observations and testing of construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel placement, fireproofing and asphalt. 
  • Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (example: Soil, concrete or other), and provides assessment of data through reporting
  • Performing field and laboratory testing of soil samples and concrete specimens.
  • Prepare and review Engineering reports, project plans and specifications prepared by others
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments; may assign work to others
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services and review recommendations with Principal Consultant
  • Attend client site meetings, maintain and leverage client relationships and develop new project opportunities
  • Trains technicians and field staff
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Clean / maintain equipment and perform site clean up 
  • Interface with contractors and clients.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited/ABET school
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
  • Must be able to read and understand work plans
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record (required)
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb occasionally
  • May travel up to 15% of time

    Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed

 Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:

  • College Graduate
  • EIT certification or the ability to obtain within one year of date of employment
  • The ability to read and understand work plans

  • Experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing
  • ACI/ICC/WisDOT certifications are preferred
