Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant supports the daily operations of the Office of Accessibility and Testing Services, including administrative functions, student support, and testing services. This role serves as a professional representative of the University and requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to equitable student access and success.
The Graduate Assistant plays a key role in supporting office workflows, assisting students and campus partners, and ensuring the smooth coordination of accommodated testing and related services. The position requires discretion, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastยฟpaced, studentยฟfocused environment.
The responsibilities for this position include the following:
- 80% Proctoring exams for Student Accommodation Request (SAR) students, general UWG students, and community members taking exams in the UWG Testing Center.
- 10% Supporting students in navigating and completing accommodation requests for classroom, testing, housing, and/or dining services at UWG.
- 10% Administrative duties to support the operations of the Accessibility and Testing Services Office.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions .
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of accessibility, equity, and student support services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow office procedures
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and time management
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
