Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the Department of English. Graduate assistants will serve the department in several capacities, including working on the department's two publications, Peach and the Flannery O'Connor Review ; assisting with teaching in the Writers in the Schools program in GCSU's Early College; and teaching lower-division courses. Graduate assistants will also tutor in the Writing Center. Duties will include mandatory training and regular meetings.
Responsibilities
Department Publications - 30
Assist with the department's two publications, Peach and the Flannery O'Connor Review .
Support editorial, production, and distribution tasks as assigned.
Teaching - 40
Assist with either teaching writers in GCSU's Early College or lower-division courses.
Prepare instructional materials and participate in required training.
Writing Center Tutoring - 20
Assist students in improving writing skills including idea development, organization, clarity, and citation practices.
Facilitate student-centered tutoring sessions that promote learning and independence.
Other Duties as Assigned - 10
Participate in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Additional Documents" attachment in application.
Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.
Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
Proposed Salary
Minimum $10.00 / hour
