Half (.5) Graduate Assistant - Mathematics
Position Description
The Half Graduate Assistant (.5 GA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer.
Overview/Responsibilities
The position is for a graduate student to assist with the design and implementation of strategic efforts to grow our math department's programs.
This includes:
  • Recruitment of new majors, including international students
  • Design and implementation of a marketing plan, including via social media
  • Collaboration to identify and offer appropriate events and networking opportunities that connect current students with post-graduation opportunities.
  • In this role, the graduate assistant would work closely with faculty and administrators across the department, be exposed to the literature on mathematics curriculum development and best practices and engage in significant original data analysis to support departmental projects.

The ideal candidate for this Graduate Assistantship position will possess:
  • A strong academic background in mathematics or a related field.
  • Experience with data analysis, including proficiency with tools such as Excel, R, or Python.
  • Strong written communication skills for content creation and professional correspondence.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
