Job description
Located in the fastest-growing region of the state, the University of North Georgia is a multi-campus university with an enrollment of over 20,000 students, making it one of the largest institutions in the University System of Georgia. Through a variety of educational pathways that provide access and range from certificates and associate degrees to a professional doctoral program, UNG is responsive to regional education and economic development needs. Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus.
Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Department of Counseling, Athletics Graduate Assistant position. This position will assist with the holistic mental health along with academic support to UNG student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health screening for student-athletes.
- Conduct appropriate mental health referrals and consult with clinical staff as required.
- Provide developmental academic advisement to student-athletes.
- Assist with academic counseling.
- Provide wellness and mental health education to student-athletes.
- Other duties as assigned by the Counseling Department Head.
- Participate in weekly supervision and engage in training and development as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Counseling program and have completed the first year of coursework including COUN 6100 and COUN 6110.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in the MS of Counseling program by start date.
- Willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with assessments is a plus.
