Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach ADV 205 Advertising Research & Data on Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:00am-12:20pm during the Fall 2026 semester (3 credits).
Course Description: This course introduces foundational concepts in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including how to design ethical research and collect and analyze primary and secondary data that will allow for students to develop actionable data-driven insights for advertising purposes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's or advanced degree in advertising or social science research is preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience in advertising account planning and strategic analysis is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding professional experience in Advertising research and account/strategic planning are expected.
  • Preference will be given to the candidate who exhibits both strong professional and teaching credentials.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
  • Developing a syllabus.
  • Ordering books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes in advance.
  • Preparing for classes.
  • Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
  • Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
  • Ability to hold office hours on campus.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools/Equipment
  • Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
