Job description

Graduate Engineer II, Public Works - Local Infrastructure
Halff has an immediate opening for a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Fort Worth, TX office. This position will assist in the design and production of construction plans for municipal projects such as roadways, storm drainage systems, pipelines for water supply and sewage treatment, city parks and facilities, civil site design, and stream bank stabilization. You will work as part of a team under the close mentorship of Professional Engineers (PEs) who are eager to help you grow and succeed in your career. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, critical thinker, and problem solver. Someone with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative environment and is ready to take on new challenges. Background in roadway, drainage, and pipeline design is a plus.
What you will do:
  • Collaborate with a talented engineering team to solve design challenges and produce construction plans for local infrastructure projects.
  • Use design software and drafting tools to accurately display and visually communicate calculations, design layouts, and concepts in order to create construction plans to build infrastructure improvements.
  • Draft reports and present plans to audiences with a wide range of backgrounds and technical knowledge, translating engineering and scientific information into easily digestible concepts.
  • Estimate construction costs and quantities, perform site visits, and review contractor submittals.

What you will need:
  • 1 - 4 years of experience in public works.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment involved in the construction or repair of civil engineering related improvements.
  • Able to balance multiple and frequently conflicting objectives and make good decisions.
  • Technical experience in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design, modeling, data recording, and analyzation related software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
