Thanks for your interest in Success Academy! Running a large, fast-growing, and high-performing network of public charter schools takes a village - families, children, teachers, staff and faculty, advocates, and supporters alike. We are growing fast in New York and expanding to Florida, and we would love to welcome you to our community! When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.

At SA, non-academic subjects aren’t ‘extra’ but essential. Athletics serve as critical, creative outlets for scholars to explore and develop their passions and talents in basketball, soccer, track & field, and volleyball. We expect sports coaches to be masters of their craft and share their passion, talent, and experience in the classroom.

We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and results-driven Sports Performance, Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our community. As the Sports Performance, Strength & Conditioning Coach, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive programs that enhance the athletic performance and overall well-being of our scholar-athletes. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic educational environment committed to fostering excellence in academics and athletics.

  • Develop and execute individualized strength and conditioning programs tailored to meet the needs and goals of scholar-athletes.
  • Conduct fitness assessments to evaluate scholar-athletes' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to design progressive training protocols focusing on strength, speed, agility, flexibility, and injury prevention.

Leading Group Training Sessions

  • Conduct group workouts and training sessions for sports teams and individual athletes.
  • Instruct proper techniques for weightlifting, cardiovascular exercises, and other fitness activities.
  • Provide guidance on nutrition and recovery strategies to optimize performance and promote overall health.

Monitoring and Tracking Progress

  • Track scholar-athletes' progress and performance improvements over time.
  • Adjust training programs based on assessment results and feedback to ensure continuous development and growth.
  • Maintain detailed records of workouts, attendance, and performance metrics.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with sports coaches and athletic staff to support athletes' development and performance goals.
  • Communicate regularly with coaches, parents, and school administrators regarding student-athletes' progress and program updates.
  • Promote a positive and motivating environment that fosters teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

In this role, you will

  • Be a part of a highly motivated team committed to education reform, parent choice, and the building of exemplary schools.
  • Collaborate with coaches across the SA network to build a world-class athletics program.
  • Inspire a love for sport and encourage critical thinking through rigorous instruction.
  • Coordinate and lead family meetings.
  • Receive routine, ongoing feedback and support from an outstanding leadership team and faculty.
  • Implement a comprehensive and inclusive sports program to compete in internal and external leagues.
  • Implement a curriculum that contains goals and benchmarks for scholars to meet.
  • Implement lesson plans and activities that introduce scholars to the basics of physical movement through multiple sports.
  • Encourage scholars to engage in regular physical activity and develop a lifelong interest in sports and physical activity.
  • Expected to work on weekends and travel between different training sites depending on the sport.
  • Expected to lift heavy items and equipment.

We invite you to apply if you

  • Have 2 - 3 years of experience working as a strength coach or personal trainer, preferably in a high school or collegiate setting.
  • Are able to manage both administrative and coaching aspects of the position in a timely and organized manner.
  • Previous experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs, preferably with collegiate, high school, or youth athletes.
  • Commitment to the growth and development of scholar-athletes both on and off the field.
