Job description

The Assistant Coach will support the head coach with all day to day activities to run the baseball program including but not limited to facilitating practices, recruiting high quality student athletes and event day management.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Required 1 year of coaching experience as head or assistant coach at High School, NAIA, NCAA or NJCAA level or 2 years of coaching experience as a graduate assistant or high level travel team experience. 

  • CPR and AED certification 

  • Valid driver's license

  • Knowledge and ability to explain/teach in the sport of baseball is a must. 

  • Ability to provide structure and mentorship to student-athletes.

  • Reasonable skills in maintaining equipment, field and indoor turf facilities.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

  • Preferred collegiate playing experience in the sport of baseball.

  • Assistant Coach will be expected to attend all varsity team practices, conditioning and games.

  • Responsible for coordinating game day logistics.

  • Ability to do maintenance tasks including but not limited to field tasks such as cutting grass, weed prevention, weed eating, etc.

  • All other duties as assigned including teaching activity courses (when applicable).

  • The assistant coach will be tasked with running the junior varsity baseball team in all aspects of the program.

  • Responsible for team study tables and academic progress.

  • Responsible for team social media accounts. 

  • Assist the Head Coach in recruiting highly competitive student athletes that will thrive under the UT Southern culture that encompasses "WINNING" in the classroom, venue and in the community.
