Title: Assistant Tournament Director (Baseball) - All-Ripken Games

Position Summary:

Unrivaled Sports is seeking an experienced and highly organized Assistant Tournament Director to support the planning and execution of All-Ripken Games events. This leadership role is critical to delivering a premier tournament and player-development experience. The Assistant Tournament Director works closely with the Tournament Director, Field Coordinators, coaches, umpires, and operations staff to ensure smooth event operations, strong communication, and adherence to All-Ripken standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Operations & Leadership

  • Support the Tournament Director in all aspects of event planning and execution
  • Assist with daily operational oversight of fields, schedules, staffing, and game flow
  • Serve as a key on-site decision-maker and escalation point for operational issues
  • Ensure event timelines, schedules, and standards are consistently met

Game Management & Rule Enforcement

  • Oversee adherence to tournament rules, roster guidelines, and safety protocols
  • Communicate inning limits, time limits, run rules, and tie-breaker procedures to coaches and umpires
  • Assist with resolving on-field disputes in a professional, calm, and solutions-oriented manner

Staff & Coach Support

  • Supervise and support Field Coordinators and seasonal staff
  • Provide guidance and direction to coaches regarding expectations, responsibilities, and player management
  • Ensure coaches uphold All-Ripken standards for instruction, sportsmanship, and player safety

Communication & Coordination

  • Serve as a primary communication liaison between Operations, coaches, umpires, vendors, and facility partners
  • Assist with managing event communication platforms (e.g., GroupMe, Event Hub, Tourney Machine)
  • Support coach meetings, staff briefings, and daily operational updates

Player Experience & Safety

  • Ensure a positive, development-focused experience for all athletes
  • Address player, coach, or parent concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Enforce safety standards, medical protocols, and emergency procedures as needed

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Assist with score reporting, standings verification, and schedule updates
  • Support documentation related to staffing, incidents, and event reporting
  • Provide post-event feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement

Professionalism & Brand Representation

  • Represent Unrivaled Sports and the All-Ripken brand with professionalism, integrity, and energy
  • Serve as a visible leader on-site, setting the tone for staff, coaches, and participants

Qualifications

Required:

  • One or more of the following:
    • High School Head Coaching experience
    • College coaching experience
    • College or professional playing experience
  • Strong understanding of baseball/softball rules, tournament formats, and game operations
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, live-event environment

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a Tournament Director, Assistant Director, or Field Coordinator
  • Experience with showcase, all-star, or large-scale youth sports events
  • Background in athlete development, evaluation, or event operations

Time Commitment

  • Event-based / seasonal position
  • Requires availability for multi-day events, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
