Job description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Backhoe Operator to join our construction team. The Backhoe Operator will be responsible for operating a backhoe to perform excavation, trenching, grading, material handling, and general construction support activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working around underground utilities, reading site plans, and maintaining equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Location: Alice, TX
Schedule: Full-Time, Mondayโ€“Friday, 8:00 AMโ€“5:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Operate a backhoe safely and efficiently on construction sites.
  • Excavate trenches for utilities, drainage systems, and foundations.
  • Load, move, and stockpile dirt, gravel, and other construction materials.
  • Perform grading and site preparation work as directed.
  • Work around underground utilities while maintaining safe digging practices.
  • Assist with installing culverts, water lines, sewer lines, and drainage systems.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site requirements.
  • Assist with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators.

Qualifications

  • Previous backhoe operating experience required.
  • Construction, utility, excavation, or public works experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely excavate around underground utilities.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, or site plans preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
