Job Description

Civil Engineering CAD Designer with strong experience in single-family residential and commercial site development projects. This individual will support civil engineering staff by preparing detailed construction drawings, exhibits, calculations, and technical documents. This role requires proficiency with CAD software, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on complex projects.

Job Functions
  • Read, interpret, and work from basic and routine deeds, plats, sketches, as-builts, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Receive work direction, maintain CAD standards, drawing organization and project file management for project setup and completion, assist in effectively organizing projects, communicate effectively and foster a cooperative work environment with survey and engineering team members.
  • Prepare schematic, design development, and final (construction) drawings as required.
  • Build and manipulate 3D surface models in AutoCAD, apply corridor modeling for road design, and perform earthwork calculations through surface comparisons.
  • Utilize agency regulation documents to design projects according to requirements and standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare grading designs and plans, street plans and profiles (both curb and gutter and open ditch design), drainage area maps, storm sewer plans and profiles, and water, sanitary sewer plans and profiles.
  • Prepare construction drawings for both commercial and residential development plans, zoning exhibits, and concept plans.
  • Create and markup existing PDF documents using Adobe/Bluebeam.
  • Ability to work independently and use experience and judgment with minimal direction.
  • Train and mentor junior CAD staff and provide technical guidance.
  • Support multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Completion of technical school with CAD design certificate or associate degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering field desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in civil engineering land development field.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D in a development design capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, and utility design practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
