Job description

Trueline, a growing site development contractor with an expanding presence in the Charleston market, is seeking a Sitework Estimator to join their onsite team in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced civil estimator to prepare complete bids for grading, underground utility, earthwork, and private site development projects while working directly with operations and company leadership.
What You'll Do as the Sitework Estimator:
  • Prepare complete cost estimates for grading, excavation, underground utility, earthwork, and site development projects
  • Review construction drawings, technical specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for civil and site construction scopes
  • Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and overhead pricing
  • Build competitive estimates and proposals using Bid2Win and Bluebeam
  • Visit project sites to evaluate existing conditions, access, logistics, and potential estimating risks
  • Solicit, review, and compare pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
  • Prepare complete bid packages and support final proposal development
  • Assist with project budgets, cost analysis, preliminary schedules, and preconstruction planning
  • Partner with Project Managers during contract review and negotiations
  • Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and value opportunities before bid submission
  • Ensure estimates align with company standards, project specifications, and applicable requirements
  • Maintain organized estimating records and support a smooth turnover to operations after award

Must-Haves as the Sitework Estimator:
  • 3-5+ years of sitework, heavy civil, excavation, or underground utility estimating experience
  • Hands-on proficiency with Bid2Win
  • Experience estimating grading and underground utility scopes
  • Strong understanding of earthwork, excavation, site development, and civil construction methods
  • Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs
  • Ability to develop complete labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates
  • Experience using Bluebeam
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Stable work history with demonstrated tenure
  • Ability to work onsite in Charleston

Nice-to-Haves as the Sitework Estimator:
  • Experience estimating private commercial site development projects
  • Knowledge of the Charleston construction market
  • Existing relationships with local subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Field construction experience
  • Experience supporting project budgeting and schedule development
  • Familiarity with local soil conditions, material pricing, and subcontractor availability
  • Experience working for a sitework, heavy civil, underground utility, earthwork, or civil infrastructure contractor
