Job description

Job Description

At Sembix, we're building a championship team of engineers and innovators who push each other to improve every week. If you've been using LLMs daily since January 2023 — not just to experiment, but to build and automate real products — this is your chance to help shape and build AI-powered systems at scale.

As an AI Engineer, you'll design and implement advanced AI-powered features and agent workflows while remaining hands-on. You'll lead technical efforts on critical projects, mentor other engineers, and influence architecture and design decisions without carrying full ownership as an architect. You'll work across modernization, greenfield innovation, and hybrid projects — embedding GenAI deeply throughout our stack.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build GenAI-powered features and sophisticated agent workflows
  • Lead technical direction on modernization efforts, embedding AI capabilities into core systems
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customer teams to plan, develop, and ship new features iteratively
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers on AI patterns, prompt design, and best practices
  • Design and optimize prompt chains, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and hybrid AI architectures
  • Support technical demos and contribute to shaping feature roadmaps

Required Qualifications

  • Daily use of LLMs and GenAI tools since January 2023 — using models for product development, automation, and advanced problem-solving
  • 5+ years in software engineering or intelligent system development, with at least 2 years in AI/ML-focused roles
  • Experience building and delivering AI-embedded or GenAI-powered features
  • Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript; expertise with API-first, event-driven, and serverless architectures
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code
  • AWS Certified (Associate or Professional level)

Preferred Skills

  • Tools: AWS Bedrock, LangChain, vector databases, Claude, OpenAI, Pinecone
  • AI practices: prompt engineering, few-shot learning, RAG, agent orchestration
  • Bonus: Experience in EdTech, GovTech, or large-scale modernization projects

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 per year, based on experience
  • Incentive Compensation: 17% of base salary, tied to feature delivery and mentorship contributions
  • Total Potential Annual Compensation: $146,000 – $176,000
  • 401(k) Match: 100% match up to 4% of base salary, fully vested immediately
  • Paid Time Off: 20 days per year
  • Medical: 100% employee coverage, 50% for family
  • Holidays: 10 paid holidays annually
