PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

An Associate Product Manager (APM) supports the product team by conducting market research, analyzing user data, writing feature requirements, and coordinating cross-functional teams to help deliver product updates and features. The APM will work in close partnership with the product manager and VP of product. This includes collaborating with customer-facing teams to derive new features from customer feedback and market needs. Furthermore, the APM will assist the Product Manager to fully define and document the feature specifications, rank features based upon business priority, define user acceptance criteria, and help drive the delivery process with the engineering team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the cadence of customer conversations that feeds product decisions. Schedule and run discovery calls, capture what was said, and make sure findings reach the Product Manager and the VP of Product in a usable form.
  • Assist the Product Manager to ensure  go-to-market readiness for new features by collaborating with Marketing on messaging, Sales on enablement materials, and Customer Success on training and support.
  • Own the demo and trial environments that Sales and Customer Experience depend on, and keep them representative of what customers actually see.
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize customer feedback, usage data, and market research to help make informed product decisions.
  • Assist the Product Manager to define clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance product research, streamline workflows, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Stay ahead of product, design, and technology trends to identify opportunities for product innovation and market differentiation.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years at PSTrax (or similar GovTech company) in a customer facing role, or equivalent direct experience working in a fire, EMS, or law enforcement agency
  • Demonstrated ability to talk to customers
  • Working fluency with AI tools for research, analysis, and drafting
  • Analytical mindset with comfort using data to make informed decisions

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

  • Travel is required to support business operations, customer engagements, meetings, trainings, conferences, or other company initiatives. The frequency and duration of travel will vary based business needs and may change over time. Typical travel may be around 4-6 times a year.
  • Prior product management experience is helpful, but not required.
